Drupal Publisher Theme Coming Soon!

Update: The Publisher theme is complete and can be purchased buy visiting our Drupal themes page
We are hard at work on the next few themes that'll be released later this month. The first of these new Drupal themes will be the Drupal "Publisher" theme. This theme was built after receiving a lot of feedback on the Efficient theme and the overall need for news or magazine style Drupal theme that was more flexible for publishers and online businesses of all kinds.
The theme will feature dropdown top navigation, tabbed front page top region to allow for multiple feature stories and images, tweaked left and right sidebar regions to allow for videos, user avatars, story teasers plus images, and more.
On a side note... We've noticed a few Drupal theme sites popping up over the last few weeks and have reviewed what these sites have to offer. Quite frankly, we do not feel that our themes should be compared to the sites we've reviewed. Why? Well because these Drupal theme sites do not really give the end user (buyer) anything much beyond many of the free Drupal themes you can download on Drupal's own website. Further, the themes we have reviewed do not give flexible image or content preview integration, allowing front page story thumbnail previews given by such Drupal modules such as Imagecache, CCK, and Views, among others. So, the real difference is that our themes are truly advanced and beautifully designed.
This is what sets us apart from what I would condider "standard" theme sites. Our Drupal themes would cost an average $2,000 to $5,000 or more if you paid a Drupal web designer, programmer, and themer for any theme we'll ever add to ThemeSnap.com. From our perspective, this is what will keep our themes way ahead of the competition.

Will your publisher theme
Will your publisher theme work on Drupal 6.0? Thanks.
Hi, yes the theme will work with Drupal 6
Hello.
Yes, the publisher theme will work with Drupal 6. We are actually starting with Drupal 6 for this theme to start, then possibly back porting it to Drupal 5.
Release date
What's the estimated release date of your new theme?
why not 5.x
Many modules still not work with drupal 6.x, and we have to wait, it would be great to have 5.x as a lot of users use this version! thanks for the great work...
I read on your forum about your last theme, hope that it will more option like a forum page, CSS Blocks (see a new module about css block) can change the block design in administration block, that will make your theme more feature
Drupal Publisher release date
Hi,
The estimated release date on this theme will be the 29th of this month.
@ toma2 - Well, we are porting this to Drupal 6 first and then Drupal 5 within a week or so after that. We will have to update several modules oursleves for the Drupal 6 "Publisher" theme and the back port to Drupal 5 should be easier, as Drupal 5 already has the necessary modules needed for this theme.
Thx
Very Nice!!!!
I really like the look of this theme, it will be perfect for my site. I will have to do a two step launch as I am programmed to launch this weekend but will re-launch once this theme is available for 5.x Well done guys...
BTW, any indication of costs on this one?
Is it possible to get a few
Is it possible to get a few more screen shots for a few different pages? And could they be a little bit larger? Thanks.
what about the cost?
what will be the cost of Publisher theme?
Drupal 5
I think supporting Drupal 5 is a right decision because Drupal 5 is very stable and has lots of mods.
I know i use Drupal 5 because of that. I havent moved to Drupal 6 yet.
Nice Theme
Could you please confirm that registered users will be notified when you have new themes available?
I'll be waiting
Wow, this one is really nice. I will be waiting for it. GOod work guys!
clean web2.0 theme
I like your theme. It looks clean and nice. But how are you going to offer this theme for drupal 6.x when cck and views are still not available for drupal 6.x?
Any Release Date set?
Would love to know the date and price of the Publisher theme, maybe email notification?
release day
will the Publisher Theme be reeased today finally?
I suppose MANY people are looking forward to it's release...
Update on the Drupal Publisher theme
Hi,
Thanks for all of the comments. The two core modules (Imagecache and Imagefield) are not currently ported to Drupal 6. Without getting much into the technical jargon, they are quite a bit complex and rely on a "chain of dependencies" as Dopry puts it. He is the maintainer of both the Imagecache and Imagefield modules.
He goes on to mention:
"So basically once I get a stable release of ImageAPI, I'll move onto a stable release of ImageCache 2.x, then ImageField 2.x...
The I start Drupal 6 ports at ImageAPI then ImageCache, which I already have patches for... So I can get to imagefield more quickly"
You can read the full post for the Imagecache and Imagefield modules being ported to Drupal 6 below:
Imagefield: http://drupal.org/node/224813
Imagecache: http://drupal.org/node/232624
With this said, we have already begun the Drupal 5 build instead and are close to completely this - about 6 to 8 more hours of programming and then another 8 to 12 hours of testing and debugging the Drupal Publisher theme.
Thanks again, will update more here soon.
So... when it will be done?
So... when it will be done? .)

SO the Publisher theme is not dependent on Views,CCK/Contemplate...??? Yes/NO?
If no, then can the user/purchaser further customize with them without issues(on the 6 version whenever you are ready???)
Please, when it will be
Please, when it will be available for drupal 5?
Any news?
Any progress on this matter?
Congratulations and Suggestion
I'm glad to see you coming out with more themes. Congratulations on that!
My suggestion is to consider retrofitting the drop-down menus to the Efficient Theme. Perhaps you could sell it as an upgrade.
Price/Timeline
I am looking for a good theme. How much for this theme when it is released? I have been looking at the new themes from templatemonster.com. They are only $45-$55. How will your price compare? Timeline?
Discount for Users that have bought efficient theme?
Will there be a discount for this new theme if we have already bought the efficient theme? (repeat customer discount?)
When will the theme be
When will the theme be available?
For a theme-selling website, the word "soon" isn´t good. Please give us a date.
So......
Anytime soon? I will definitely buy if it's available for 5x, if not, I will have my PSD converted, which will cost me the same prices as your template.
Bump ...
Thought I would chime in and see how things are coming along.
Update?
It's been about 10 days since your update of 4/29. It seemed that you were very close at that time.
NEWS?
Its coming down to do I wait or proceed with another theme... projects are held up... it would be great to know if you have a data in mind
cheers
Here's an update on the Publisher theme for you all
Thanks to everyone for waiting so patiently for this theme. I should know better than to announce release dates with so many other projects going on. :-\
I don't mind giving a preview look at this theme even though some things need to be changed before we release it. These changes are very minor, and there are a few bugs, but about another full day of development changes and clean up and we should be done:
http://www.themesnap.com/theme-demos/publishe...
The modules this theme uses are:
CCK
Imagecache
Imagefield
Content templates
Publisher theme (our own module)
Javascript tools (tabs) - for front page tabbed image
I'm working on this a little over the weekend and as you can see when clicking on the large tabbed image on the front page, the page refresh is an issue. We are going to rebuild this and make it better, adding text to the right side and a smaller image to the left side. It just doesn't look right the way it is now and I'm a picky person, so it needs to change.
Response to several people about the Publisher theme
@ Tim about Template monster Drupal themes.
Hi Tim, thanks for posting. Personally, I do not feel that Template monster or any theme site like Template Monster will, in the near future, be able to compare to our theme. Why? Because their themes use zero customized modules. This means you get no home page thumbnails of images, no custom layouts based on CCK or content template, and no uniqueness. This is why our themes are not $45-55 dollars and will never be. It's just too much work to provide something like these Drupal themes that are so custom and charge change for them.
@ Anonymous - Is that your real name ;-)
The question: Will there be a discount for this new theme if we have already bought the efficient theme? (repeat customer discount)?
Yes. If you have purchased the Efficient theme and want the Publisher theme, we will apply a discount. the price for the Publisher theme will be slightly higher because of the time it took to build this theme, but the discount should be for approx. $30-40 off.
@ Another Anomymous
"Anytime soon? I will definitely buy if it's available for 5x, if not, I will have my PSD converted, which will cost me the same prices as your template."
At or before Tuesday it will be released for sale. But I would disagree that you would be able to have several PSD pages sliced into valid XHTML and then integrated/ported into Drupal with so many custom modules for the same price. That would be an anomaly. ;-)
I'll post more on Monday.
Thanks everyone.
Thanks for the update
I think that anyone interested in this theme appreciates the work you are doing to get it right.
Have you thought about your policy will be on upgrading the D5 Publisher to D6 Publisher? A usable D6 is probably only about 6 weeks away. Also, do you anticipate that there will be additional functionality in the D6 version?
Helo. Theme is very very
Helo. Theme is very very good. I'd like know something about the price.. I understand it will be higher, theme is really very good and original... price of efficient is 139 usd... you wrote for publisher 2000-5000 usd.. isn't it too much? Theme is very good, i like it very much..

Followup on Drupal Publisher theme
Hi,
@ John - I appreciate the comment you made. We do want themes to be right before we sell them. It makes no sense to sell drupal themes that need to be debugged every few days and wastes everyones time having to patch and plug holes missed.
@ Anonymous - The original post said that this type of Drupal theme would likely cost someone between $2,000 and $5,000 if they had it designed and coded from scratch.
I'm thinking the price will be somewhere around $169 to $189, just slightly higher than the Efficient theme since it has a bit more functionality.
Thanks
Have you thought about using
Have you thought about using the QuickTabs module?
"At or before Tuesday it
"At or before Tuesday it will be released for sale."
Today is wednesday. :)
Just to know how is going... :)
Thanks
We are hating IE at the moment ;-)
Hi Darkpollo,
As I know everyone who purchases themes wants them to be as solid as possible in several browsers, i.e. IE 6 and 7, Firefox, and Safari, we are having to do some workarounds for the Featured top regions using the JavaScript tabbed menu.
It's like once we fix something for IE 7, then it breaks for Firefox or Safari, or vice versa.
I'm trying to limit fixes and patches that need to be sent to buyers, as well as customer support, so we are finishing up some of the cleanup for the theme today and making sure it's solid enough for release.
Thanks again for the patience though.
Thanks
Thanks.
Somebody asked it before...
Are you going to update the Efficient theme with the dropdown menu from this theme?
I hate IE also. :)
Couple of things about the demo
I just wanted to comment on a couple of things that I noticed when looking at your demo of this theme.
1. When using IE7 if I drop-down the features menu and hover toward the bottom, and then hover over the picture, the tab goes away, but the drop-down menu does not go away. In the same respect, I can hover over the lower portion of the drop-down and then quickly go to another tab and that tab will be hilighted but the previous drop-down will still be active. In Firefox it performed as expected.
2. The pictures in the feature sections seem to lose their aspect ratio and get either stretched or squeezed instead of cropping a side to fit.
Ad Units?
I'm really impressed with the work so far on the theme. The homepage, in particular, is really outstanding. However, I thought I'd share one flaw with you while you are still developing the theme. Most publishers are using 330x250 or 336x280 ad units in addition to leaderboards (728x90). The positioning of the logo and the search box look to make placing a leaderboard difficult (depending on the size of the logo). The width of the right column makes a 300x250 or 336x280 an impossibility. Given that most publishers make money off of online advertising, you might want to think of coming up with a variation on this theme that creates real estate for those placements. While the skyscraper (160x600) ad unit is often seen on sites, it performs poorly relative to the other sizes that I've mentioned. Many publishers are moving away from 160x600 in favor of the 300x250 or the 336x280.
Congrats on the work you've done so far! There's definitely a market for the product.
Drupal 5/6?
Does anyone have a definitive answer for whether the Publisher theme will be released for Drupal 6? It looks fantastic.
IE7 - Operation Aborted
On IE 7 I sometimes get the following message when trying to view the demo:
Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://www.themesnap.com/theme-demos/publishe....
Operation aborted
OK
I click OK and the page is not loaded.
Is it finished? Are the IE
Is it finished?
Are the IE problems solved?
IE problems and page shutting down
Hi all.
We are working on trying to nail down the problem with IE. Here is a concise explanation of the problem and why IE handles JavaScript this way. Essentially, the problem is this:
"This problem occurs because a child container HTML element contains script code that tries to modify the parent container element of the child container. The script code tries to modify the parent container element by using either the innerHTML method or the appendChild method."
So, we are working to correct this by tomorrow (Wednesday). Seems this is incorrect page load handling on IE's part, but we will provide the workaround shortly.
Thanks
Ad Units - 2nd that!
I'm using Drupal 6 on a bunch of sites (so waiting for themes to be compatible with 6) but so far I'm looking at other theme sites because of the Ad Unit issue.
I build sites to sell ad space and like your design work. I'd really like to see dedicated ad spaces as mentioned by Prescott Shibles above.
Followup on original thread: IE Bugs fixed caused by JStools
Hello,
The issue with the page aborted message in IE that happened sporadically when loading the front page have been fixed. We simply bypassed the jstools module altogether and used the Publisher module to display the front page Feature 1 position images.
We will update those who have purchased today with the information to fix their installation and replace the needed files.
Thanks!
Brian
You offer support an updates?
We have a no Profit Association and we are interested in your excellent Publisher theme, but isn't clear if You offer future updates and support for Publisher theme.
Thanks in advance
Regards
We provide updates for bugs
Hello,
We provide updates for bugs and issues with the theme insofar as the fixes or bugs are truly that. In some cases, people might want aesthetic changes or other things done that are just a request or enhancement as they see it. We would not support these types of requests as we do not provide customizations to the themes after they are purchased - we only provide fixes and some support for misc. questions.
We are going to provide some upgrades for the Drupal 6 version of the two themes we have available now, but for the price of the themes we offer, we cannot provide unlimited support requests for our themes.
I hope this helps.
Thanks
